Portfolio

I currently work as a freelancer in the Twin Cities specializing in graphic design, audio and video production and social media content curation and strategy.

In my role at Gender Justice, an advocacy law firm based out of St. Paul, I schedule guests, research and create outlines for its legal podcast The Gender Justice Brief.

Multimedia Journalism

I recently left a job as a Multimedia Reporter for one of Southwest News Media‘s newspapers, the Chaska Herald. As the main reporter for the paper, I covered everything from education to development, local happenings to local crime reports!

Check out my work specifically here or by clicking on some of my favorite stories below.

Video Editing

I edited this 19 second promotional video in Adobe Premiere with footage that was shot by one of our videographers on site at a rally in summer of 2023. This ad was used on Facebook and Twitter (currently known as X).

I edited this 27 second promotional video in Adobe Premiere for a German learning program at the Germanic-American Institute. The subtitles were manually added in the editing process for proper accessibility. I also wrote copy and recorded the voice-over for the ad. The video was used in a 2 month long Google Ad campaign that accumulated 30k views. It can also be viewed on YouTube here.

This wordless story video is from an assignment for my Advanced Multimedia class at the University of St. Thomas in Spring 2021. The point of the assignment was to utilize our editing skills, and audio from who we were interviewing, to tell a story without using a voice over and I believe that it captures my video sequencing abilities very well.

Thailand Reporting

In January of 2020, I embarked on a trip to Phuket, Thailand with nine other students from Hamline University and two professors to engage in environmental reporting. The 10 of us had been required to take a specialized communications course with our professor the fall before to prepare us for the trip. On top of that, we had regular meetings with our assigned Thai journalists and talks with our contact at the International Women’s Media Foundation and a New York Times journalist on assignment in South Asia. The spring after we returned from our trip, we were tasked with working with the translations from our Thai journalist of our interviews, working with our peer photojournalist to identify the best photos, and write an article that would be submitted to various media outlets. All of our works were published by the media outlet of our Thai journalist (linked at end of article). My article topic was wildlife tourism and its greater impact, specifically focusing on tigers (legal wildlife tourism) and slow lorises (illegal wildlife tourism).

Podcast

As part of my previous job at the Germanic-American Institute, I brainstormed topic ideas, organized interviews, and co-hosted the podcast Hier & There for all of season 4.
